Real Homes (www.realhomesapp.ca) is the home search of Jason O'Keefe, REALTOR®, and his team, Real Home Experts, at Real Broker Ontario Ltd., Brokerage. This page says what the app collects, why, who receives it, and how to stop it or have it removed. By creating an account or sending a form you agree to what this page describes.
Who is responsible
Jason O'Keefe, REALTOR®, is accountable for your information. Questions, requests and complaints go to him here:

What we collect and why
- Your account: your name, your email address, a password (stored scrambled; we cannot read it), which agent invited you, and the town you were looking in. If we issue you a password, we send it to you by email. The real estate board allows sold prices and price history only for people with a confirmed account.
- How you found us: which link or ad brought you here: the campaign named in the link, the kind of ad, the site you came from, an agent's name if it was their link, and the first page you opened. We keep it with your account so we can see which links people use.
- When you sign in: the time, kept with your account.
- What you do signed in: the homes you open and when, the homes you watch, the towns and searches you save, and what you tell the assistant. This drives your alerts and helps your agent help you. The real estate board also requires us to keep this record.
- Questions and home-value requests (no account needed; also the forms in our Google ads): your name, your email address, your mobile number if you give it, your message and the address. A typed address goes to Google to be placed on the map.
- Open-house guest book: if you sign the guest book at one of our open houses, your first and last name, your email address, your mobile number if you give it, whether you are working with an agent, and which open house you visited and when. It is the host's record of who came through the home, and it lets the host follow up with you.
- Location, if you tap "Near me": used to sort homes by distance. A rounded position stays in a cookie on your device for 30 days, not in your account.
- Visit log: the IP address and the pages opened, for every visitor, kept up to 30 days.
- Emails we send you: our email service records whether each one was delivered and opened.
You are matched with a local agent
Joining does not by itself assign you to an agent. If you came by an agent's link, or by a home that one of their clients shared with you, in the 7 days before you joined, you are connected with that agent. If you are already a client of one of our agents, you stay with them. Otherwise an agent is assigned when you send a question about a home or ask what yours is worth: a REALTOR® on our team who works that area, or our client-care staff where no agent covers it.
Your agent sees your contact details, your town, your questions, what you told the assistant and how you found us, and is told if you keep returning to the same home. They may contact you by email, or by phone if you gave a number. You can tell them to stop.
If you are looking outside the area we serve, we may suggest an agent we trust at another brokerage.
If you sign an open-house guest book
Your entry goes to the agent hosting the open house, and into our client records under that agent. If we already have a record for you, it is added to that record and you stay with the agent or the client-care staff who look after you now. The agent who holds your record is asked to call you that day, unless you said you are working with an agent. Like anyone in our client records, you may get our market updates by email; each has an unsubscribe link. The guest-book page loads no advertising tags.
To be removed, or to stop the calls, tell your host, or call or email us at the address above. Your entry is kept until you ask. Deleting an app account does not remove it.
The real estate board
Sold prices and price history come from the real estate board's system (PropTx, which serves the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board and other Ontario boards). Its rules require us to keep a record of your name, your email address (it is also your sign-in name), what we hold about your sign-in, when you agreed to our terms, and the homes you open. We must give these to the board if it asks, for an audit or for legal reasons. The board and its members may also visit the app to check that it follows their rules.
Who receives it
We do not sell or rent your information. Your agent and our team's staff see it. We work under Real Broker Ontario Ltd., Brokerage, which supervises us and may see it. The real estate board may ask for it, as described above. So do the companies that run the app for us:
- Follow Up Boss (our client records; United States)
- Brevo (email; European Union), with Google's mail service as a backup
- Hetzner (the app's server and database; United States)
- Slack (an internal note when someone joins: your first name, your town and how you found us; and, when a guest-book follow-up could not be given to an agent, your first name, the first letter of your last name and the open house)
- Google (placing a typed address on the map)
- Apple, Google or Mozilla (phone notifications, if you turn them on)
- OpenStreetMap, the map's script host and the listing photo servers, which see your IP address when a map or a photo loads
Information held outside Canada is subject to the laws there, and authorities there may be able to see it. We may also have to disclose information where the law requires.
Cookies and advertising tags
Our own cookies keep you signed in (30 days), remember that this device has an account (400 days), hold your rounded location if you shared it (30 days), and note which link or ad brought you here (7 days).
Every page also loads a Meta tag and a Google Ads tag, whether or not you have an account. They set their own cookies and tell Meta and Google which pages this device opened and when someone joins. We use that to measure our ads and decide who sees them, and may give Meta a scrambled copy of an email address for the same reason. You can block the tags in your browser or in your ad settings at Meta and Google. The app has no switch of its own yet.
Some page addresses include what you typed or shared, such as the street address in a home-value search or your position after "Near me". The tags and the visit log can see those too.
Email alerts
Alerts come from Real Home Experts, Real Broker Ontario Ltd., Brokerage, at the address above, on mornings when there is something new in the towns or searches you chose. To stop them, tap the link at the bottom of any alert, or tap "Stop" on your page. Or reply, email or call, and we will stop them for you.
You may also get our market updates by email. Each has an unsubscribe link. Turn phone notifications off in your phone or browser settings.
Your choices
You can change your mind at any time.
- See or fix it. Your towns, alerts and watched homes are on your page. For a copy of everything we hold about you, or to correct it, ask us. We answer within 30 days.
- Stop contact. Say "remove me" to your agent or to us. We stop emailing you for good, the app's alerts included, and take you off our ad lists.
Deleting your account
On your page, tap "Delete my account". Your account and everything saved in it are removed at once: your name, email address and password, your saved searches and towns, your watched homes, what you told the assistant, the list of homes you opened, how you found us, and any phone-notification sign-up. Your alerts stop.
If you cannot sign in, email info@realhomex.ca from the address on your account. We delete the account within 30 days and confirm by email.
What is kept. For 180 days we keep one short record that the account existed, because the board requires a record: your name, your email address, whether it was confirmed, when the account was created, the terms version you agreed to and when, when your password was last confirmed, when and how the account was deleted, and the date the record is erased. Then it is erased.
Deleting your account does not remove:
- a guest-book entry from an open house (ask us and we remove it);
- your entry in our client records, which is marked, not erased (say "remove me" to stop contact too);
- records of a purchase, sale or lease with us, which the law requires us to keep;
- visit-log lines, our record of forms the spam filter held back, and copies of the database made earlier;
- what Meta, Google and our email service already received.
Safeguards, and how long we keep it
The app runs only over an encrypted (https) connection, passwords are stored scrambled, and only the people who run the app can reach its server. If a breach puts you at real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
We keep your account and what is saved in it until you delete it. No time limit is set yet for removing accounts that are not used. The visit log is kept up to 30 days. The short record of a deleted account is kept 180 days. A guest-book entry is kept until you ask us to remove it. Client records are kept as long as we need them to serve you and to meet real estate record-keeping rules.
Changes and questions
The app is for adults. When this page changes, we post it here with a new date. With a question or a complaint, reach us at the address above. If we do not settle it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).
